Additional Insured Requirement
For Fil-Am Spring Fest, vendors are required to provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI) showing General Liability coverage. The certificate must also list the event organizer and venue as Additional Insureds.
This is a common requirement for festivals, markets, and public events.

What does “Additional Insured” mean?
It means your insurance policy also extends protection to the event organizer and venue for claims related to your booth or operations at the event.
Your insurance still protects your business first.
Adding Additional Insured does **not change your coverage or take anything away from you.
Why is this required?
If an incident happens at an event, a claim may name several parties, such as:
- the vendor
- the event organizer
- the venue
For example, a customer might claim they became ill after buying food at the festival. Even if the issue came from a specific vendor, the claim may also include the organizer or venue.
Adding Additional Insured allows your insurance policy to respond to claims connected to your participation in the event.
Does this change my insurance coverage?
No.
Adding Additional Insured:
- does not reduce your coverage
- does not change your policy limits
- does not transfer liability away from your business
It simply extends your policy to also protect the organizer and venue for claims related to your operations.
Will this cost extra?
In many cases, insurance companies can add this at little or no cost.
Some insurers may charge a small administrative fee depending on the policy.
Your insurance agent will be able to confirm this.
What should I ask my insurance agent?
You can simply ask your insurance agent to issue a Certificate of Insurance (COI) that:
- shows General Liability coverage
- is active on the event date
- lists Fil-Am FEST Inc. and Fairfax Company of Virginia L.L.C. as Additional Insureds
You may send the COI Guide provided by Fil-Am FEST Inc. to your insurance agent so they have the exact information needed.
Where do I upload my Certificate of Insurance?
Once your insurance agent issues the certificate, please upload it using the link below:
You may also refer to the COI Guide for the exact wording and requirements your insurance agent will need.
